ハードドライブにインストールされたUbuntuでこのようなことが起こるのは今回が初めてですが、/lib/firmware/brcmファームウェアをインストールした後に属性を変更して、ファイルが削除されないようにすることができます。

ディストリビューションのアップグレードを行う前に忘れずに行ってください 。
.../brcm フォルダが不変に設定されているときに linux-firmware を更新すると、更新が失敗します。これにより、アップグレードがクラッシュする原因になります。
