xelatex でのマイクロタイプと Hoefler テキストの間隔の問題

XeLaTeX で microtype と Hoefler Text を使用すると、奇妙な間隔の問題が発生しています。以下に簡単な例を示します。xelatex でタイプセットすると、次のように単語「he」と強調された単語「ought」が重なります。

別のフォント (例: Palatino) を使用したり、microtype パッケージを削除したり、最初の文を削除したりすると、問題は解消されます。この問題の原因について、ご意見をお聞かせいただければ幸いです。
