/compress の問題

Question

いくつかのソフトウェアで提供されたスクリプトがあります。スクリプトの出力は次のようになります (デバッグ モード)。

しかし、その後、そのディレクトリで file1.cdr.old.Z、file1.cdr.old.Z、... を検索しても、ファイルは見つかりません。

コマンドを実行するとfile、compress が失敗する理由はないようです。
