ルート パスワードを要求するグラフィカル ツールを開こうとすると、パスワードを入力しても起動しません。たとえば、「認証」アプリや「日付と時刻」アプリを試しました。コマンド ラインから と入力してアプリを起動しようとするとsystem-config-authentication、次のように表示されます。

これは、Gnome を使用している場合でも、KDE を使用している場合でも発生します。これは CentOS 6.5 の場合です。
編集: ラップトップに CentOS を Windows 7 とのデュアルブートとしてインストールしました。SSH は使用しておらず、コマンドを実行するときはグラフィカル環境になっています。
