Leider wurde mein Haupt-Desktop über das Internet von Ubuntu 10.04 auf 11.04 aktualisiert und obwohl ich das Gnome-Panel zum Laufen gebracht habe (und so viele Unity-Verknüpfungen wie möglich deaktiviert habe), bevorzuge ich immer noch den Xubuntu-Desktop.
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, von Ubuntu zu Xubuntu (oder von Unity zu XFCE) zu wechseln, ohne den ganzen Backup-/Installations-/Wiederherstellungskram durchlaufen zu müssen?
Können wir einfach ein Paket herunterladen, das XFCE als Fenstermanager installiert?

Es hängt alles davon ab, wie Sie Ihr System haben möchten. Wenn Sie nur xfce als Desktop verwenden und alle Anwendungen ausführen möchten, die Sie bereits ausgeführt haben, können Sie einfach
apt-get install --no-install-recommends xubuntu-desktop
und entfernen Sie diese Unity- und Gnome-bezogenen Desktop-Pakete mithilfe von Synaptic und wählen Sie während der Anmeldung die Xubuntu-Sitzung von GDM aus. Zusätzlich zu dem, was jpfluerybereits erwähnt wurde, neigt das angegebene Skript dazu, Anwendungen wie z. B. libreoffice, evolution, totem, empathy, banshee, geditdurch einige leichtere Alternativen zu ersetzen, z. abiword,gnumeric, thunderbird,parole,pidgin,gmusicbrowser,mousepadB. usw., die empfohlene Pakete von Xubuntu sind. Mit Xubuntu erhalten Sie Folgendes:
- Xfce-Alternative zu Gnome, Unity
- Thunar-Alternative zu Nautilus [obwohl beide koexistieren können]
- xfwm-Alternative zu compiz[obwohl compiz mit xfce ausgeführt werden kann] und metacity
