Ich habe versucht, mit dem NVIDIA-Treiber 340.96 für die GeForce 210-Karte unter Ubuntu 14.04.4 eine Hardwarebeschleunigung für eine AVCHD-Datei mit 1080p und 60 Bildern pro Sekunde zu erreichen.
Sowohl Kodi (16.0) als auch VLC produzieren ruckelnde, abgehackte und brauchbare Videos. Beim Spielen laufen die CPU-Kerne (Core 2 Duo E6750) mit 100 % und 40 %. Dasselbe gilt für den Nouveau-Treiber.
Windows 7 spielt es einwandfrei ab, es handelt sich also wahrscheinlich nicht um ein Hardwareproblem.

Die neuen Intel E3-, E5- und E7-CPU-Chips verfügen über integrierte AVCHD-Komprimierung/-Dekomprimierung. Bei älteren CPUs ist dies möglicherweise der Fall, möglicherweise aber auch nicht. Es ist möglich, dass Windows auf diese Funktionen zugreifen kann, während Linux diese Funktion im Standardkernel noch nicht hat.
