Ich habe mir vor Kurzem ein kabelgebundenes USB-Headset mit 7.1 Virtual Surround gekauft, das laut Hersteller auch GNU/Linux und Chrome OS unterstützt. Den Kommentaren zufolge scheinen Windows-Benutzer mit der Virtual-Surround-Funktion zufrieden zu sein, und ich hätte gern dasselbe auf Ubuntu MATE 22.04.1. Das Problem ist, dass es nur als Stereo erkannt wird (Pavucontrol zeigt für „USB PnP Audio Device Digital Stereo (IEC958)“ nur die vorderen linken und vorderen rechten Kanäle an und der Port ist als „Digital Output (S/PDIF)“ aufgeführt) und ich konnte keine Möglichkeit finden, meine Dateien mit AC-3-Sound in 5.1 abzuspielen, sie werden alle auf Stereo heruntergemischt. Auf der Registerkarte „Ausgabegeräte“ der Pulse Audio Volume Control habe ich in den erweiterten Einstellungen für dieses Gerät das Kontrollkästchen AC-3 aktiviert, aber das hat nicht geholfen.
