Meine externe Festplatte Western Digital MyBook Essential ist vor Kurzem abgestürzt und ich versuche, meine Daten davon wiederherzustellen.
Da ich dachte, das Festplattengehäuse sei einfach ein USB/SATA-Konverter, versuchte ich, die interne Festplatte über einen SATA-Anschluss direkt an meinen PC anzuschließen. Dies funktionierte jedoch nicht und das Windows-Datenträgerverwaltungstool erkannte das Laufwerk nur als „nicht zugeordneten Speicherplatz“.
Ich befürchte, dass meine Aktion es Windows ermöglicht haben könnte, meine Festplatte auf eine nicht wiederherstellbare Weise zu ändern, z. B. durch einen Low-Level-Vorgang zum MBR usw.

No, Windows won't format or change any connected drive unless you accept that "This drive is unformatted, want to format it now?" question. However I could imagine that there's some built-in encryption in the controller (i.e. the bridge between USB and SATA) to avoid exactly what you're trying to do here. I know some portable drives offer such functionality with included (but optional) password prompts in the drivers (or through hardware buttons), so you can't access the drive without proper authentication.
