Ich habe dieses Problem seit einiger Zeit auf unserem Windows Server 2016 Standard-Server, nicht virtuell.
Häufig (aber nicht beschränkt auf):
- Alle Softwareinstallationen funktionieren nicht mehr
- Sage-Backups werden nicht mehr ausgeführt
- Signaturupdates von Windows Defender funktionieren nicht mehr
- Windows sucht nicht mehr nach Updates
- Geplante Windows-Backups werden nicht abgeschlossen
Im Fehlerprotokoll ist lediglich der Fehlercode 1603 von Bedeutung. Dabei handelt es sich anscheinend um einen allgemeinen Fehler.

Das einzige, was das Problem zu beheben scheint, ist ein Neustart des gesamten Servers, was in einer Produktionsumgebung keine gute Lösung ist. Selbst dann treten die Symptome innerhalb einer Woche wieder auf und alles funktioniert nicht mehr.
Bisher habe ich:
- Installationsdienst neu gestartet, abgemeldet, mehrfach neu registriert
- Den Registrierungseintrag für Kurznamen auf 0 geändert
- Mehrere Microsoft Fixit-Anwendungen abgeschlossen
- Defender manuell mit dem Download des manuellen Installationsprogramms aktualisiert, der erfolgreich abgeschlossen wurde
- Alle temporären Ordner gelöscht
- Berechtigungen für Laufwerk C: auf SYSTEM Vollzugriff eingestellt

Es war kaum zu glauben, aber es war der Druckerspooler, der diese Vielzahl an Problemen verursachte. Ein Neustart des Druckerspoolers behebt alle genannten Probleme. Ich kann nicht ganz erklären, wie viel Kopfzerbrechen mir das im letzten Jahr bereitet hat.
Windows-Backups funktionierten nicht mehr, alle Installationsprogramme funktionierten nicht mehr, der Server konnte keine Rollen hinzufügen/entfernen … Ich habe sogar jeden einzelnen Fehler behoben, der im Ereignisprotokoll auftrat, und trotzdem funktionierte der Server alle 3–4 Tage einfach nicht mehr.
Ich suche noch nach der genauen Ursache des Problems (da ich es gerade erst herausgefunden habe), aber im Moment kann ich den Dienst einfach neu starten, wenn es passiert.
