Wie kann ich in (Lua)LaTeX Text manuell parallel auf gegenüberliegenden Seiten setzen?

Ich möchte einen zweisprachigen Text parallel auf gegenüberliegenden Seiten mit LuaLaTeX setzen. Die vorhandenen Lösungen zur Automatisierung dieser Aufgabe haben sich als unbefriedigend erwiesen, da sie keine Fußnoten (parallel) zulassen und keine unterschiedlichen Schriftgrößen der beiden parallelen Texte zulassen (Abonnieren) oder liefern im Allgemeinen ein schlechtes Ergebnis bei der Ausrichtung von Textblöcken (eledpar).

Da der Text nicht allzu lang ist, bin ich ernsthaft überlegt, die Seiten selbst umzubrechen. Dazu muss ich folgende(s) Problem(e) lösen:

Betrachten Sie zwei gegenüberliegende Seiten mit Endabsätzen unterschiedlicher Länge. Die folgenden Absätze sollten dann an derselben vertikalen Position beginnen, so dass die Anfänge dieser folgenden Absätze einander gegenüberliegen. Um dies zu erreichen, muss man

1. um die Position des Endes des längeren Absatzes auf seiner Seite zu bestimmen
2. die Möglichkeit zu haben, die nächsten parallelen Absätze beide an der angegebenen Position beginnen zu lassen.

Ist das machbar? Gibt es von (Lua)LaTeX bereitgestellte Mechanismen, um Positionen auf einer Seite zu bestimmen und mit dem Satz an einer bestimmten Position auf einer Seite zu beginnen?

BEARBEITEN: Das folgende Beispiel veranschaulicht die Aufgabe. Hier soll der lateinische Absatz, der mit „O tempora, o mores“ beginnt (dritter Textblock im Code), an der gegenüberliegenden Position des Anfangs des Absatzes „Shame on the age...“ (fünfter Block) beginnen.

Ich weiß, dass dies eine alte Frage ist, zu der es schon eine ganze Weile keine Aktivität mehr gab. Dieses Thema liegt mir am Herzen, da ich während meines Studiums an der Universität viele lateinische Texte verwendet habe.

Als Philosoph und Historiker habe ich oft mit Übersetzungen antiker Texte gearbeitet und mich immer gefragt, wie man sie setzt. Ich kann mir nur vorstellen, was für ein Albtraum diese Aufgabe sein muss, wenn man ein normales Textverarbeitungsprogramm verwenden würde.

Da ich sicher bin, dass dies ein Thema/Problem ist, mit dem viele im Bereich der klassischen Geisteswissenschaften konfrontiert sind, möchte ich ein Minimalbeispiel geben, das die wunderbaren Möglichkeiten des reledmacund reledparPakets illustriert.
