Sie sollten im Argument keine Auszeichnung verwenden \chapter: Verwalten Sie den Schriftsatz im Argument \titleformatund in den Überschriften.
Ich würde den plainStil nicht neu definieren, da er auf den Startseiten der Kapitel verwendet wird.
Ihnen fehlt das Einstellen headheight.
Anstelle von soulist es meiner Meinung nach besser, zu verwenden microtype.
Und schließlich: 14pt Schriftgröße auf A5-Papier? Sind Sie sicher?
