Estaba intentando instalar hdf4y luego python-hdf4. Soy nuevo tanto en Linux como en Python. Necesito leer el archivo hdf. Pensé que necesito instalar pyhdfdesdehttp://www.science-emergence.com/Articles/How-to-read-a-MODIS-HDF-file-using-python-/ha utilizado el pyhdfmódulo para leer el archivo pyhdf.
Al principio intenté instalar usando el comando pip install pyhdfy obtuve el error:
No se pudo encontrar una versión que satisfaga el requisito pyhdf (de versiones): No se encontró ninguna distribución coincidente para pyhdf.
Luego lo descargué pyhdf-0.9.0e intenté instalarlo. Cuando intento compilar durante la instalación hdf-4.2.12, aparece el error:

Estoy usando Ubuntu versión 17.04. ¿Cómo puedo eliminar este error?

No es necesario crear la biblioteca HDF4 desde el código fuente en Ubuntu. Simplemente puedes instalarlo y sus archivos de desarrollo desde el paquete libhdf4-dev.
Además, también puedes instalar un módulo Python para HDF.5de los paquetes python-h5py(Python 2.7) o python3-h5py(Python 3).
