Tengo un servidor de desarrollo web personal configurado en mi habitación y cambié la configuración DHCP de mi red para darle a la máquina una dirección IP local estática. Todo estuvo bien por un tiempo, y luego apareció un dios del caos. Estaba iniciando una sesión SSH en el servidor desde la computadora. en la sala de estar cuando un gato cruzó la regleta que sirve a la computadora y al monitor, a la lámpara, al enrutador/módem y a la impresora. La regleta es de esas que tienen un protector contra sobretensiones incorporado, por lo que, por supuesto, todo se quedó sin energía durante unos segundos. El servidor estuvo bien porque está en un circuito diferente.
Una vez que restablecí la energía presionando el interruptor en la regleta y el enrutador finalmente terminó de reiniciarse, intenté reiniciar la sesión SSH, pero no pude conectarme. Omita muchas más historias innecesarias y aquí es donde estoy:
El servidor se conecta a la red, como lo indican los LED de actividad en la parte posterior de la caja. El servidor no puede comunicarse con la red y la red no puede comunicarse con ella. "# lshw" muestra el dispositivo de interfaz Ethernet como de clase puente y no de red. En realidad, no muestra ningún dispositivo de clase de red.

Asumiría en este punto que necesito reconfigurar el dispositivo como clase de red, pero no sé por dónde empezar.

Fue necesario hacer más conjeturas y sugerencias de un foro web, pero logré ponerlo en línea nuevamente. El adaptador de red integrado todavía aparece como dispositivo puente y aún está deshabilitado. Encontré un adaptador USB Ethernet <-> que había comprado en una tienda de chatarra literal. Lo conecté y encendí la máquina y reconoció el adaptador, pero no lo habilitó. Entonces adiviné cómo configurar netplan para usarlo (no sabía qué usar para el nombre del dispositivo). No funcionó, así que reinicié por si acaso. La pantalla de inicio (tuve que abrir el registro de inicio después porque era demasiado rápido) me dio algo nuevo para incluir en la configuración de netplan. Lo probé y funcionó al instante.
