problema al reinstalar apache2 ubuntu 14.04

Tuve algún problema al reinstalar apache2.

Yo suelo:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall apache2 apache2-bin

y luego error con este mensaje,

/etc/init.d/apache2: 64: .: Can't open /etc/apache2/envvars
/etc/init.d/apache2: 76: .: Can't open /etc/apache2/envvars
ERROR: APACHE_PID_FILE needs to be defined in /etc/apache2/envvarsinvoke-rc.d: initscript apache2, action "restart" failed

Intento purgar el uso de esto:

sudo apt-get purge apache2

después de eso intento reinstalar nuevamente y uso esto:

sudo apt-get install apache2

Este es el mensaje cuando intento reinstalar Apache2, uso ese código:

Puedes ver de qué se queja dpkg,

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get install -f

intenta ejecutar el siguiente comando

sudo apt-get remove --purge apache2 apache2-utils

entonces corre,

sudo apt-get install apache2

Intente utilizar el Administrador de paquetes Synaptic:https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/synaptic/.

Busque el apache2paquete y elija la opción "desinstalación completa". Debería purgar todos los directorios y paquetes que apache2se configuraron. Luego instale el apache2paquete usando la consola o desde Synaptic Package Manager.
