construir numpy desde la fuente da como resultado una arquitectura incorrecta

Construyo numpy desde la fuente en mi mac para vincularlo a mi biblioteca ATLAS. Por lo tanto, quería ejecutarlo como se describe.aquí con estas opciones:

Pero al compilador no le gustaron todas estas banderas de arco y salió con:

Podría hacer que la instalación funcione al eliminar el indicador -arch i386:

cc -DNDEBUG -g -fwrapv -Os -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -arch x86_64 -pipe

Pero esto genera un error al importar numpy:

Mi arches de hecho i386y mi machinea x86_64h.

¿Significa esto que instalé un ATLAS incorrecto o que me falta algo en la compilación numerosa? ¿Por qué tengo que pasar varias -archbanderas?
