Fedora Linux: la interfaz Ethernet se desconecta espontáneamente con el error "Tarjeta no presente en la ranura"

Estoy ejecutando Fedora 17 Linux en una computadora Advantech ARK-3440 (ficha de datos).

De vez en cuando (digamos 5 veces desde el 1 de enero), pierde espontáneamente su interfaz de red. Desde los registros de Linux /var/log/messages*, veo que la interfaz parece desaparecer brevemente y luego regresar. Pero, al regresar, Linux no puede volver a agregarlo.

¿Alguien tiene experiencia con este problema o alguna sugerencia sobre qué podría ser o cómo solucionarlo? ¿Podría ser esto un verdadero problema de hardware? ¿O más probablemente un problema en Linux?

Busqué y encontré publicaciones similares sobre el tema "Tarjeta no presente", pero no encontré respuestas adecuadas. Algunos sugieren reconstruir Linux sin soporte hotplug...
