Instalé Arch en mi computadora portátil ayer y desde entonces no puedo abrir i3. Instalé xorg, i3-gaps y cambié mi archivo ~/.xinitrc para que diga:
xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0
xrandr --auto
exec i3
Sin embargo, no puedo abrir i3. Cada vez que intento ejecutar startx, aparece un error que indica que hay un error fatal en el servidor y que no se encuentran pantallas. A veces dice lo siguiente:

xinit: server error
Pero a veces no dice eso y simplemente se cuelga después de decir que no se encontraron pantallas.

Ejecuté xrandr, pero me dijo que no puede abrir la pantalla. Supuse que esto podría deberse a que xorg no se configuró automáticamente, así que lo reinstalé, pero aún así no funcionó. Entonces agregué:

El problema que estás teniendo se debe a que Xidentificadostarjetas en (obviamente) 2 ranuras diferentes. La razón por la que parece obtener resultados diferentes es que Xlas sondas están eligiendo una tarjeta u otra.
Hay un par de direcciones diferentes que puedes tomar;
- elimine (comente) la ranura que ha elegido y vea si
X[1] elige la tarjeta probada con un puerto activo (conectado a su monitor) - comenta el slot que tienes en tu configuración y declara el otro

Por último, deberías intentar poner lo menos posible en tu archivo de configuración. As Xse ha vuelto bastante bueno en tomar todas las decisiones correctas.

Has configurado Xorg para usarnuevo, pero sus registros de inicio muestran que está intentando utilizar el propietarionvidiaconductor. No puedes mezclar los dos.
Desinstalar elnvidiacontrolador por completo, elimine toda la configuración de Xorg y vuelva a intentarlo. (Si usa nvidia, proporcionará su propia configuración. Si usa nouveau, Xorg detectará automáticamente los dispositivos sin ninguna configuración manual).
