Acabo de instalar Debian 10 en una computadora portátil Asus X502C. Anteriormente tenía un arranque dual Win/Ubuntu y el WiFi funcionaba bien.

Después de invertir horas en esto, decidí usar un adaptador USB Wifi. Hay toneladas en el mercado, pero el que estoy usando específicamente es el adaptador nano USB Wi-Fi EW-7811Un Edimax N150, que cuesta $10. Utiliza el rtl8192cu
módulo, que es de código abierto y ya está cargado en el kernel.
Sé que es posible que esto no responda directamente a la pregunta, pero de todos modos resuelve el problema y ahorra mucho tiempo.
