Descubra el nombre de la interfaz ejecutandoiwconfig

$ iwconfig
eth0      no wireless extensions.

lo        no wireless extensions.

En este caso es así wlan0, luego ejecute iwlist <interface> freq,

          Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz

          Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz
          Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz
          Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz
          Channel 12 : 2.467 GHz
          Channel 13 : 2.472 GHz
          Current Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6)

Ninguno de estos canales está fuera de 2,4 GHz. No es compatible con 5 GHz.

Si está intentando descubrir qué admite su tarjeta, iw phyes una buena solución con unlotemás información (incluidas las bandas compatibles).

iwlistmuestra más lo que está disponible y/o permitido en su ubicación, lo que se deshabilitó debido a los canales DFS, etc., no lo que admite su dispositivo. Desde la iwlistpágina de manual:

   freq[uency]/channel
          Give  the  list of available frequencies in the device and the number of defined channels. Please note that usually the
          driver returns the total number of channels and only the frequencies available in the present locale, so  there  is  no
          one-to-one mapping between frequencies displayed and channel numbers.

Al ejecutar iwconfig obtendrá la siguiente información posible:

  1. IEEE 802.11bgn = 2,4 GHz únicamente
  2. IEEE 802.11gn = 2,4 GHz únicamente
  3. IEEE 802.11agn = 2,4 GHz + 5 GHz
