escape=F kable pdf no se compila

escape=F kable pdf no se compila

Estoy intentando incluirlo m\\textsubscript{2}en el nombre de una columna usando kable. Cuando cambio escape=Fpara permitir que esto ocurra, el PDF no se compila.

Puedo obtener un PDF para compilarlo con el formato de superíndice usando el siguiente código usando un pequeño conjunto de datos falso:

Mis datos table2.1se generan a partir del código fuente de R. La estructura es:

Cuando intento ejecutar el código de ejemplo con el que comencé a trabajar table2.1, el PDF tampoco se compila cuando escape=F. Esto me lleva a pensar que hay algo table2.1que impide que se compile el PDF, pero no estoy seguro y busco un consejo. Estoy demandando a RStudio y pdfLaTex.
