¿Por qué no puedo instalar correctamente el servidor MySQL?

Es muy fácil. Todo lo que quiero hacer es esto:

aptitude remove mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 --purge
aptitude install mysql-server

Pero cuando intento ejecutarlo me sale este error:

aptitude a veces tiene problemas con las dependencias, ¿lo has probado?

sudo apt-get --reinstall install mysql-server [.........]
sudo apt-get remove mysql-server [........]
