¿Cómo actualizar mi utilidad grep en CentOS 5.6?

Estoy usando un sistema CentOS 5.6. ya que hayun insectoen mi versión de grep. Quiero actualizar a una nueva versión. Intenté usar yum para actualizarlo, pero fallé.

[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/redhat-
redhat-lsb/     redhat-release  
[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release 
CentOS release 5.6 (Final)
[root@localhost ~]# grep --version
grep (GNU grep) 2.5.1

¿ yum update grepTe ayuda? Tuviste un error tipográfico al copiar y pegar: gerp.

También tenga en cuenta que RHEL/CentOS solo respalda correcciones de seguridad importantes, etc., y no actualiza constantemente a la última y mejor versión de ningún software en particular.
