
Tengo problemas para conectarme a mi Microsoft SQL Server 2005 desde un equipo Red Hat usando freetds. Mi objetivo final es poder conectarme usando el PDO de PHP, pero parece que no puedo conectarme cuando pruebo usando "tsql".
No creo que sea un problema de firewall, ya que puedo hacer telnet sin problemas.
$ telnet <ip> 1433

Al ejecutar el siguiente comando se obtiene lo siguiente:
$ TDSVER=7.1 tsql -H <ip> -p 1433 -U <user> -P <pass>

Creo que esta es la configuración correcta porque si ejecuto el mismo comando en mi máquina Debian local, parece tener éxito.

Intenté conectarme configurando "TDSVER=7.0", "TDSVER=7.2", "TDSVER=8.0" y no funcionan.

Veo en la documentación gratuita de TDS que se supone que debo usar 7.2, pero no parece funcionar.

El problema era un problema de firewall.
Por lo que puedo decir, cuando hice esto
telnet <ip> 1433
Trying <ip>...
Connected to <ip>.
En realidad, no estaba conectado al servidor. Si le doy un minuto se desconecta. Instalé Wireshark en la máquina y noté que no se envió respuesta desde el servidor a la solicitud de telnet.
Otra prueba de que se trataba de un problema de firewall fue que podía conectarme a la base de datos desde otra máquina, pero no desde el servidor. Entonces hice un túnel ssh para mostrar que no era la forma en que estaba configurada la aplicación, sino la red.
ssh -L 1433:theServerGivingMeIssues:1433 SQLserver
Podría conectarme al servidor SQL sin el túnel, pero no con el túnel.
