Tengo problemas para ajustar Apache. Mis configuraciones actuales de eventos mpm son

Si presiono Ctrl+r continuamente en mi sitio durante unos 20 segundos, Apache se bloquea y necesito reiniciar el servidor. En horas de mucho tráfico también sucede, generalmente en un día más de 5 veces me enfrento a un tiempo de inactividad. Estoy leyendo foros para ajustar el evento mpm de Apache pero no puedo entenderlo. ¿Alguien puede ayudarme con este problema o sugerir un cambio en mi configuración actual para lograr el máximo rendimiento sin colgar Apache? Estoy usando una instancia grande de Amazon m3 con ubuntu
