Sirviendo aplicaciones de dos rieles desde un servidor nginx

Intenté seguir algunos tutoriales junto con este artículo: ¿Configurar dos servidores de aplicaciones diferentes en un nginx?

Pero no pude lograr mi objetivo de servir qa.example.com desde qa_server y staging2.example.com desde staging_server. Estos son mis archivos habilitados para sitios nginx:

Parece que mi servidor de prueba está funcionando bien, puedo seguir los registros y ver el archivo de registro moviéndose así tail -f /home/jenkins/apps/staging_app/current/log/staging.log.

Mi aplicación qa (que se ejecuta en un entorno de prueba) no escribe en un archivo de registro correcto, cuando la sigo como si tail -f /home/jenkins/apps/qa_app/current/log/staging.logno estuviera sucediendo nada. Esa es la aplicación qa.example.com es funcional pero no tengo idea de dónde se sirve.

Intenté validar la configuración de nginx con nginx -t, todo parece estar bien. Intenté ejecutar nginx en modo de depuración para saber desde dónde exactamente se enrutan/servimos las solicitudes service nginx stop && service nginx-debug start.

Estaba siguiendo el acceso (/var/log/nginx/access.log) y los registros de errores (/var/log/nginx/error.log) pero ni siquiera sé cómo se supone que debe verse el registro de depuración.

Otra información es que mi nombre de host staging2.example.com es un registro A que apunta a la IP de mi servidor y mi qa.example.com es un CNAME que apunta a staging2.example.com

¿Algún error obvio que cometí aquí? ¿O qué debería probar a continuación?
