ubuntu 22.04 + cliente openvpn = red "inactiva"

Busqué en Google todo lo que pude buscar en Google, pero sin éxito.
Simplificaré mi pregunta tanto como sea posible.

Problema: después de conectarme a la VPN -> mi red está completamente "rota".

No puedo hacer ping ni al servidor openvpn (10.8.0.1), ni a google dns (8.8.8.8), ni a mi puerta de enlace de Internet (178.xxx.xxx.xxx).
Cuando detengo el cliente VPN -> todo vuelve a funcionar.

¿Tienes alguna idea de cómo solucionarlo?
