La instalación de apt-get falla debido a libmagic1

Mi instalación de apt-get falla debido al siguiente error con respecto a libmagic1. Mi versión de Ubuntu es 12.04 LTS. ¿Puede ayudarme si alguien lo sabe? Necesito solucionar este problema para actualizar algunos paquetes que necesito para mi trabajo.

verifique /etc/magicy vea si ese archivo existe y también verifique que /usr/share/file/magicla carpeta exista

Si /etc/magic no existe utilice lo siguiente

sudo touch /etc/magic

Si la carpeta usr/share/file/magic no existe, utilice lo siguiente

sudo mkdir /usr/share/file/magic

Luego inténtalo de nuevo... esto debería resolver el problema o al menos encontrar algo más para continuar.
