No puedo encontrar mi unidad de DVD en Ubuntu 16.04

Supongo que se podría decir que soy un novato un poco educado (lo sé, un poco de conocimiento es algo peligroso).

Mi unidad funcionó bien en Mint 17.3, pero ahora estoy ejecutando Lubuntu 16.04 y mi unidad de DVD aún no funciona. He probado varios CD y DVD; música, datos y espacios en blanco.

En este momento me estoy agarrando a un clavo ardiendo. ¿Y ahora qué?

Actualización de información: puedo ubicarlo en Discos sin problemas, pero no muestra ningún medio cuando tengo un DVD en la unidad. Ya limpié la lente, pero eso nunca fue un problema ya que funcionaba bien antes de instalar Lubuntu 16.04.

En realidad, su sistema encuentra la unidad y también la identifica correctamente, como un DVD RW de Sony.AW-G540A.El resultado proporcionado indica que la dificultad está en leer desde la unidad que el sistema está convencido de que está vacía como usted mencionó. Es probable que la causa principal sea una falla del láser (ya que limpió la lente). El dispositivo, si es reparable, no vale la pena el costo de reparación. Recomiendo reemplazar la unidad o toda la computadora portátil (si el presupuesto lo permite) considerando la antigüedad.

Acabo de hacerlo de la parte: "No tires la toalla".
Tengo Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530B (NX02)

  1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:brandonsnider/cdrtools
  2. sudo apt update
  3. Había 3 paquetes, así que lo hice:sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
  4. sudo apt install cdrecord mkisofs
  5. Reanudar
