Faltan símbolos gcov con mingw en Ubuntu 16.04

Antes de actualizar de Ubuntu 14.04 a Ubuntu 16.04, pude compilar el siguiente código con mingw-64-gcc

x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc -fprofile-generate -o test.exe test.c -lgcov -static

//test.c
#include <stdio.h>
int main(void)
{puts("test");return 0;}

Ahora el programa no se puede vincular debido a que faltan símbolos __gcov.

Qué ha cambiado entre las dos versiones de Ubuntu. Cualquier ayuda sería apreciada.

Me encontré con el mismo problema y pude solucionarlo vinculando en -fprofile-arcslugar de -lgcov.
