Al instalar zsh, el shell ha mostrado mi nombre como
[\u@\h \W]\$
Intenté agregar
PROMPT='%n>'
a mi .zshrc, pero no parece haber ayudado.

Tu .zshrclínea debe ser
PS1='%n>'

Instalé oh-my-zsh y todo parece estar funcionando bien. Problema resuelto.
