Compré una computadora Dell Desktop Alienware i7 hex-core R7 con Windows 10, que viene con la tarjeta Bluetooth inalámbrica/con cable Killer 1535.
Lo llevé a casa y lo instalé el 16.04.
Durante la instalación, Ubuntu no reconoció ni mi conexión por cable ni la señal de la ruta inalámbrica.
Después de una instalación de DVD/CD, todavía no hay reconocimiento de Internet.
Hasta ahora tampoco ha funcionado ninguna asistencia en línea.Ni siquiera el enlace del propio Killer..

En tu dmesg vemos:

Evidentemente se trata de un error de firmware: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1520343
Tenga en cuenta que el informe de error menciona específicamente su dispositivo exacto: 168c:003e.
Actualicemos el firmware para ver si ayuda. Como no tiene Internet en este dispositivo, descargue este archivo en otra computadora, transfiéralo a una memoria USB y arrástrelo y suéltelo en el escritorio de la máquina en cuestión:http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-firmware/linux-firmware_1.169.1_all.deb
Ahora, en una terminal:
cd Desktop
sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb
Reinicie y díganos si la conexión inalámbrica está funcionando.

Una nueva descarga e instalación resolvió el problema.
Mi computadora es la última versión de Dell i7 Aurora R7 con una tarjeta ethernet Killer 1535 (cableada/inalámbrica/bluetooth). Una versión de hace un año no funcionó. Sin embargo, ¡una nueva descarga e instalación funcionó!

Hola, confirmo que el firmware de Linux 1.157.16 soluciona este problema y no introduce ninguna regresión a la versión anterior. Mi computadora portátil es una Dell XPS, que incluye un adaptador de red inalámbrico Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174.
Estoy en el kernel 4.13.0-32 y al usar la versión de firmware WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00051-QCARMSWP-1 api 6, puedo comprobar que la conexión dura y que funciona sin problemas durante algunas horas (cuando era cayendo silenciosamente después de 10/15 minutos antes).

Creo que deberías tomar un cable Cat 5e (Ethernet azul con extremos RJ-45) y conectarlo entre tu computadora portátil y el enrutador. Con suerte, tiene una tarjeta Ethernet separada y no es una tarjeta combinada cableada/inalámbrica/Bluetooth como le hicieron creer.
