Últimamente he tenido algunos problemas con mi sistema Ubuntu (19.04). Creo que está relacionado con la forma en que el kernel 5.0.0 maneja la interfaz gráfica.
Mi computadora es una Asus ZenBook 13 (comprada hace unos meses), mi GPU está integrada (Intel HD Graphics, "Whiskey Lake").
El principal problema es que a menudo tengo que (re)iniciar 20 o 30 veces para iniciar el sistema correctamente. La mayoría de las veces, simplemente se queda atascado en la pantalla violeta después del menú de GRUB y el ventilador funciona a su velocidad máxima; la única forma de detener la computadora es mantener presionado el botón de encendido. Parece ser completamente aleatorio. Sospecho firmemente que hay un problema de configuración de gráficos.Cuando Ubuntu arranca correctamente, puedo usarlo sin ningún problema.- todo parece responder bien.
Intenté reinstalar completamente Ubuntu, pero el problema persistió. Por alguna razón, ha empeorado aún más: ahora, incluso una unidad Live USB no se carga correctamente (solo aparece una pantalla negra después de haber seleccionado una opción [probar Ubuntu/instalar Ubuntu], incluso en el modo de gráficos seguro). Puede que me haya metido con xserver, pero no tengo idea de cómo reinstalarlo de forma limpia.
Probé muchas soluciones potenciales diferentes que encontré en otros hilos, incluida la inserción nomodesety varios otros comandos en los comandos de GRUB ( acpi=off...), pero fue en vano. A veces, nomodesetme permite acceder al modo consola, pero, como dije, parece completamente aleatorio.

Actualicé mi BIOS desde el sitio web oficial de Asus y el problema parece haber desaparecido. Aquí está elsitio web de soportedonde podrás descargarlo para tu modelo. Seguirestos pasospara actualizar el nuevo BIOS en su PC.
