No se puede eliminar el servidor mysql en ubuntu 12.04.5 TLS

Estoy intentando reinstalar mysql-server-5.6, pero no puedo hacer nada, cada vez aparece este mensaje extraño:

Sé que la principal recomendación es desinstalar completamente MySQL y todos sus componentes, pero no puedo hacerlo. Por favor, ¿podrías considerar alguna solución?

  1. Editar el post-installationguión

    sudo nano /var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server-5.6.postinst

  2. Buscar la función

    invoke() {
    if [ -x /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d ]; then
        invoke-rc.d mysql $1
    else
        /etc/init.d/mysql $1
    fi
}

    y reemplazar con

    invoke() {
    echo
    #if [ -x /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d ]; then
    #     invoke-rc.d mysql $1
    #else
    #     /etc/init.d/mysql $1
    #fi
}

  3. Guarda el archivo

  4. Editar el pre-removalguión

    sudo nano /var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server-5.6.prerm

  5. busca las lineas

    if [ -x "/etc/init.d/mysql" ] || [ -e "/etc/init/mysql.conf" ]; then
        invoke-rc.d mysql stop || exit $?
fi

    y reemplazar

    if [ -x "/etc/init.d/mysql" ] || [ -e "/etc/init/mysql.conf" ]; then
        echo
        #invoke-rc.d mysql stop || exit $?
fi

  6. Editar el post-removalguión

    sudo nano /var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server-5.6.postrm

  7. Buscar

    # New packaging paradigm for my.cnf as of Dec-2014 for sharing mysql
# variants in Ubuntu.
case "$1" in
  remove|disappear)
    /usr/share/mysql-common/configure-symlinks remove mysql "$mysql_cfgdir/mysql.cnf"
  ;;
esac

    y reemplazar

    # New packaging paradigm for my.cnf as of Dec-2014 for sharing mysql
# variants in Ubuntu.
case "$1" in
  remove|disappear)
    # /usr/share/mysql-common/configure-symlinks remove mysql "$mysql_cfgdir/mysql.cnf"
  ;;

  8. Guarde el archivo y ejecute el comando nuevamente

    sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-server-5.6
