ICMP 프로토콜은 IPv4 위에서 직접 작동합니다(이 경우). 유니캐스트 UDP 또는 TCP와는 다른 라우팅 규칙이 있습니다. 기본적으로 ICMP 패킷을 본 모든 호스트는 응답할 수 있습니다(심지어 거짓말도 가능).
따라서 수신된 패킷 수에는 목적지의 응답만 표시되는 것이 아닙니다.
