Como alterar o contraste no Ubuntu com terminal ou usando uma ferramenta KDE?

Gostaria de mudar o contraste e não só o brilho. Meu brilho pode ser ajustado no KDE usando a tecla Fn, mas eu gostaria de fazer isso também com o contraste.

Alguns comandos funcionam como

xbacklight -set 0

ou

xgamma -rgamma 0.1e derivada

mas ninguém muda o contraste. Existe uma maneira de ajustar o contraste usando o terminal ou qualquer ferramenta do KDE?

A maneira de executar isso no terminal é usar o comando:

kcmshell4 kgamma

Eu não tentei isso sozinho, mas o pacote kgamma /1/ tem uma descrição:

This package contains a settings panel for adjusting the brightness, contrast, 
and gamma-correction of a monitor. Test patterns are shown to help determine 
the settings that accurately display the full range of colors.

Each of the red, green, and blue components can be adjusted individually, 
or all three components can be adjusted together.

This package is part of the KDE graphics module.
