Primeiro de tudo, meu computador roda o Ubuntu versão 14.04.3 LTS, e o kernel atual (aquele que obtive uname -r) é 3.13.0-63-genérico. Por favor, diga-me se precisar saber mais alguma coisa.
Meu problema é o seguinte: toda vez que tento instalar/desinstalar algum pacote, seja com apt-get ou Synaptic, recebo um erro sobre esses pacotes:

diz que você tem um erro na linha 37, mas não tem a linha 37. Portanto, a explicação mais provável é que você tem um erro de cotação. E agora dê uma olhada nesta linha, retirada da sua pergunta:
