De repente, logo após "ligar" minha ubuntu 12.04hibernação, ocorreu um erro
Não foi possível gravar bytes: tubos quebrados
o que levou a uma tela preta, então tive que reiniciar. Após a reinicialização, recebi a mesma mensagem de erro, mas minha tela estava funcionando bem. Hibernei novamente meu laptop, só para verificar e não houve nenhum erro naquele momento, mas estou enfrentando algo estranho.
Digito minha senha, apenas para ver uma tela preta com o ponteiro do mouse, que obedece a todos os movimentos que faço. Também aumentei/diminuí o volume e consegui ouvir o efeito sonoro.
O que fiz foi tentar "reinstalar" os drivers da nvidia (minha placa gráfica é nvidia 8600m gs) usando
- CTRL-ALT-F1 (para obter uma CLI)
sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get purgenvidia-* sudo apt-get install invida-current-updates
mas quando chego à etapa 4, recebo informações sobre dependências nvidia 304ou algo semelhante.
Alguma ideia de por que isso está acontecendo somente após a hibernação e como consertar?

Isso ébug #1345217 -"nvidia-304-update (driver de vídeo) foi desinstalado e pode ser desinstalado após a atualização para HWE-Stack5 (do Ubuntu LTS 12.04.4 a 12.04.5)"e pode ser corrigido seguindo as instruções emesta resposta.
