Eu gvim-gtk2instalei a partir do meu próprio repositório do Open Build Service (aquié) e a maioria das coisas funciona bem com ele. A única exceção é que meu ~/.vimrcobjetivo é carregar o NERDTree na inicialização, quando nenhuma entrada é fornecida (ou seja, ele é iniciado como vimou gvimsem nenhum arquivo ou pasta especificado para abrir) e não é.
Em vez disso, esta é a tela que o Vim mostra na inicialização:
Aquié meu ~/.vimrcarquivo. Aqui estão as linhas ~/.vimrcque se destinam a iniciar o NERDTree na inicialização do Vim:

essas linhas são emprestadas doLEIA-ME DO NERDTreearquivo. Em outras distros eu encontro esta linha em minhas ~/.vimrccargas NERDTree na inicialização exatamente do jeito que eu quero, mas no Arch Linux não é. O /etc/vimrcarquivo que meu vim-runtimepacote instala é:
