Estou recebendo o seguinte erro após atualizar de 11.10 para 12.04 beta. Mesmo com atualizações diárias de patch, o problema não foi resolvido, então estou divulgando.
Erro do Compiz do Ubuntu 12.04 beta:Fatal: couldn't open display :0
Basicamente: Quando eu inicializo, a tela mostra o carregamento do Ubuntu brevemente, por alguns segundos e depois cai para uma tela de login do terminal.
Eu tenho uma placa ATI, costumava ter meu próprio driver compilado instalado no 11.10, não tenho certeza se ele foi substituído pela atualização.

ao tentar instalar o fglrxdriver, recebo um erro semelhante a este: (não consigo capturar imagens ou copiar e colar no console, então estou escrevendo em um computador diferente:
