De vez em quando, meu servidor de e-mail para de enviar novos e-mails e, sempre que encontro o log de erros,

Também sempre encontro o log de erros repetitivos abaixo de IPs desconhecidos (não tenho certeza se está relacionado ou não):

De acordo comhttps://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=758660 saslauthd para de funcionar após uma certa quantidade de logins (bem-sucedidos e/ou com falha).
Você não precisa reiniciar todo o servidor, basta o seguinte:service saslauthd restart
Você pode colocar isso em um crontab. Se muitos logins se originarem do mesmo IP malicioso, você poderá descartar a solicitação desse IP no firewall para fazer com que o saslauthd dure mais, por exemploiptables -A INPUT -s 185.29.11.6 -j DROP
