Eu segui as instruções emhttps://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/deb.htmlpara instalar o elasticsearch em uma instalação limpa do Ubuntu Server 16.04.
Executei os seguintes comandos através do terminal para instalar.
wget https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-6.3.0.deb
sudo dpkg -i elasticsearch-6.3.0.deb
sudo /bin/systemctl daemon-reload
sudo /bin/systemctl enable elasticsearch.service
sudo systemctl start elasticsearch.service
No entanto, quando executo, curl -X GET "localhost:9200/"
recebo o seguinte erro
curl: (7) Failed to connect to localhost port 9200: Connection refused

Qualquer sugestão ou conselho seria apreciado para me ajudar a colocar o elasticsearch em funcionamento.
Também vale ressaltar que estou executando em um sistema de 32 bits

network.host: 127.0.0.1
fiz a coisa no meu caso.
Eu tive exatamente o mesmo problema com o ES 6.7.1. Mas nem 0.0.0.0
nem localhost
funcionaram para mim como network.host
valores.
Executei o seguinte comando:
netstat -natp
Percebi que tinha esta linha na lista:
127.0.0.1:9200 :::* LISTEN
Então coloquei o host listado e funcionou.
