Todas as noites, quando saio do trabalho, bloqueio a tela através do botão "power" do Ubuntu no painel superior direito.
Quando venho trabalhar pela manhã, sou recebido pela tela de login. Isso não acontece todas as noites, mas na maioria.
Estou executando o Ubuntu 10.04 em um Dell Inspiron. Incluí algumas especificações de HW e também saída dmesg. Por favor, deixe-me saber quais outros registros podem ser úteis.

@msw: Esse não parece ser o mesmo bug. Não experimentei nenhum congelamento ou travamento. Não precisei reiniciar ou desligar e ligar minha máquina.
@Tim: as únicas configurações de energia que tenho disponíveis são "colocar o display em hibernação em XX minutos". Desativei-o completamente e ele passou duas noites sem me desconectar. Talvez colocar a tela em suspensão faça com que o xorg trave. Informarei se vir o bug aparecer novamente.
