Estou trabalhando no Ubuntu 10.04. Comprei um computador novo e instalei o Ubuntu 10.04 nele.
Porém, tentei vários métodos encontrados na internet como usar xrandr, modificar o xorg.conf para aumentar a resolução, eventualmente falhou e apenas 800x600 está funcionando.
Eu quero que se torne 1920x1080.
O que devo fazer?

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx não tem suporte de driver para a plataforma Intel Sandy Bridge, pois foi lançado quase um ano depois do Lucid.
Considere atualizar para o Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal ou qualquer distribuição que forneça um kernel Linux com versão 2.6.38 ou posterior, já que o suporte completo ao Sandy Bridge foi adicionado nessas versões.
OA equipe do Ubuntu Kernel oferece versões mais recentes do kernel Linux para Lucid em seu PPA, mas o site deles avisa: "Não chore para a equipe do kernel se ela matar todos os seus gatinhos." Em combinação com odrivers X Intel mais recentes, isso deve proporcionar suporte ao Sandy Bridge no Lucid. Para instalá-lo, execute os seguintes comandos:
