Quero aumentar max_allowed_packeto tamanho da variável para o cliente MySQL que está usando um servidor remoto. Pesquisei no Google e as respostas que encontrei discutiram apenas a alteração da variável do servidor.
Meu programa cliente é MySQL Workbench para Windows 7.

De acordo comDocumentação MySQL em max_allowed_packet
Alguns programas como mysql e mysqldump permitem alterar o valor do lado do cliente definindo max_allowed_packet na linha de comando ou em um arquivo de opções.
Na linha de comando, para configurá-lo para 512M, basta executar o cliente mysql com isto:
C:\>mysql -u... -p...

Você tem que configurá-lo globalmente. Você não pode configurá-lo localmente.
Você precisa doSUPER privilégiopara definir qualquer variável global.
