Erro de I/0 no disco rígido externo (servidor owncloud)

Eu tenho uma configuração de servidor owncloud em um Raspberry Pi com Debian. Como armazenamento em massa eu uso umUnidade USB Intenso de 500 GBque está conectado a umHub USB LogiLinkporque o Raspberry pi não consegue alimentar a unidade USB. Quando eu inicializo o Raspi tudo funciona bem e ele começa a sincronizar meus arquivos, mas depois de aprox. 1h recebo o seguinte erro:

Data directory (/media/usb1/owncloud/data) not writable by ownCloud
Permissions can usually be fixed by giving the webserver write access to the ownCloud directory

Quando tento acessar a unidade via ssh, recebo

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ls /media/usb1
ls: reading directory /media/usb1: Input/output error

E não importa se eu tento como root ou não.

Eu olhei no meu syslog e descobri que ele montou e desmontou a unidade várias vezes antes

Alguém tem ideia do que poderia causar esse erro? Meu suspeito é o hub USB e o gerenciamento de energia, mas não sei como verificar isso. Talvez o disco rígido esteja com defeito? Ele é montado de acordo com /etc/fstab
