Como iniciar o icewm?

Eu instalei icewm1.2.13. Metacityé meu gerenciador de janelas padrão. Normalmente, para substituir --replacea opção do gerenciador de janelas é usada, por exemplo metacity --replace. Mas minha versão icewmnão tem essa opção. :

# icewm --help
IceWM: using /root/.icewm for private configuration files
Usage: icewm [OPTIONS]
Starts the IceWM window manager.

Options:
  --display=NAME      NAME of the X server to use.
  --client-id=ID      Client id to use when contacting session manager.
  --sync              Synchronize X11 commands.

  -c, --config=FILE   Load preferences from FILE.
  -t, --theme=FILE    Load theme from FILE.
  -x, --cursor=[small|medium|large|huge]  cursor size.
  -n, --no-configure  Ignore preferences file.

Quando tento iniciar icewmrecebo esta mensagem:

# icewm

Como começar icewm?

(Eu uso Centos 6.5)

A opção Iniciar com --replacedá o mesmo resultado:

# icewm --replace
IceWM: using /root/.icewm for private configuration files
IceWM: xinerama: heads=1
IceWM: xinerama: 0 +0+0 1680x1050
IceWM: xinerama: heads=1
IceWM: xinerama: 0 +0+0 1680x1050

Encontrei alguma solução, mas é desconfortável. Mudei o sistema runlevelpara 3. Isso desativa o modo gráfico. Quando estou no modo texto eu comando:

# which icewm
/path
# xinit -e /path

xtermé necessário para executá-lo.

Existe uma solução melhor? Eu gostaria simplesmente de substituir o gerenciador de janelas.

Tudo o que posso dizer é que essa icewm-sessioné a forma recomendada de iniciar o IceWM. Também está em andamento... Até agora posso iniciá-lo usando $ startx icewm-session, mas minhas configurações globais do X são substituídas pelos padrões do IceWM e um terminal virtual é aberto por padrão assim que a sessão do IceWM é ativada. Para fechar a sessão tenho que pressionar Ctrl+C nesse terminal, caso contrário ela permanece...
