Eu tenho um fluxo udp (não acessível ao mundo exterior) que o VLC consegue reproduzir no Linux, mas não no Windows. O Firewall do Windows está desativado. Para testar o fluxo udp no VLC, desliguei temporariamente o firewall do antivírus (ESET Smart Security) e o VLC ainda não reproduzia o fluxo.
Como eu poderia investigar o que pode estar bloqueando a reprodução do stream?O que há de diferente entre Linux e Windows nesse aspecto?Devo inspecionar os pacotes no Wireshark, isso ajudaria - e em caso afirmativo, o que devo procurar exatamente?

Quem diria que a solução seria tão simples. eu mencioneium linkna seção de comentários que dizia para desativar o adaptador sem fio - isso não ajudou. Então eu estava pesquisando no Google usando as palavras-chave:"firewall" site:videolan.org
e me depareiEste tópicoonde foi perguntado ao usuário se ele possui VMWare ou VirtualBox instalado. E isso me deu a ideia de desabilitar VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter
e agora o stream udp está funcionando.

Tive um problema semelhante e a solução dada por user3596479 está correta. Mas você não precisa desabilitar todos os adaptadores virtuais, apenas alterar a prioridade da interface.
Acesse o adaptador de rede que deseja definir como primário. Clique na página de propriedades. A partir daí, clique em Internet Protocol versão 4 e vá para Propriedades. A partir daí, clique em Avançado para obter a seguinte janela. Defina a prioridade da interface para um valor baixo, por exemplo, 5. Seu computador usará esta placa de rede como primária.
