Preciso usar um sistema comercial de videoconferência que não suporte Linux.
Usar o virt-manager é apenas minha estratégia atual. Se houver maneiras mais fáceis (talvez o virtualbox), esta também é uma resposta válida.

A versão gratuita do VMWare Player funcionou para mim. Consegui configurar VMs que incluíam até Mac OS e Facetime com sucesso.
O player VMWare também permitiu o mapeamento de unidades. Concordo com o acima e não uso o virtualbox, ele não fornece nenhum driver nem capacidade de carregar hardware externo.
