Tenho criado algumas imagens PNG com alguns mapas nos últimos dias (usando R). Depois que as imagens terminam, eu as movo para uma pasta separada chamada "ok", para não correr o risco de sobrescrevê-las mais tarde. Porém, algumas dessas imagens estão ficando completamente brancas alguns dias depois, outras estão retornando a um estado anterior (com apenas algumas camadas de shapefiles nelas), que nem tenho certeza se gerei em algum momento ou não (Acho que sim, já que fiz isso com alguns deles). Até mesmo as imagens brancas mantêm seu tamanho real em bytes, embora pareçam completamente brancas em muitos programas.

Executar um histograma com ImageMagick no mesmo arquivo retorna:

o que significa que realmente ficou todo branco (a imagem original tem 3000x3000 pixels).
Estou usando o Debian 9. A última vez que executei um autoteste neste HD (com discos gnome), ele disse:
Disk is OK, 43 bad sectors.
Agora fiz o mesmo teste novamente e ele disse a mesma coisa. O que deveria significar que nenhum novo setor defeituoso apareceu. É um HDD normal, não um SSD. Aqui está o resultado completo:
