sftp e sshfs não funcionam no Ubuntu VM 18.04, enquanto ssh e scp funcionam bem

Eu instalei um Ubuntu 18.04 em uma máquina com Windows 7. Tento mapear uma pasta da VM do host local para um módulo de hardware de destino que executa o Linux yocto. Eu dei o seguinte, mas sem sucesso:

sshfs -o nonempty [email protected]:/target/path /home/user/local/path

Quando dei o comando acima com opções de depuração:

sshfs -odebug,sshfs_debug,loglevel=debug [email protected]:/target/path /home/user/local/path

depois de fornecer a senha, recebi:

Depois de pesquisar em vários sites, o conselho mais comum é modificar o arquivo de configuração /etc/ssh/sshd_config.
O /usr/lib/openssh/sftp-serverexiste no meu sistema, então tentei tanto com ele quanto com o, internal-sftpmas recebo o mesmo erro.

Além disso, tentei conectar via nautilus e sftp e obtive o arquivo "Unable to access location".
Também tentei o filezilla via sftp e recebi unexpected end-of-fileum erro.
Por outro lado, ssh e scp funcionam bem.
